Paper Pregnant... Home Study is approved!

This past week we had wonderful phone call from our adoption agency with the news that our Home Study had been approved. Mike and I are very excited.

The process towards building our forever family has taken us down a couple of unexpected paths; from infertility treatments to adoption. We decided to move onto adoption in January 2008 but didn't start the process until mid-May. The break between January and May was therapeutic for both Mike and I allowing us to move forward with the adoption application process with a fresh perspective.

There are many different negative and positives stories on the web regarding the different experiences others have gone through in order to adopt. Our process was fairly smooth. At times we lamented writing our autobiographies. Our autobiographies were very thorough which I believe helped our home study to progress quickly.

We have a wonderful social worker. She has been very helpful leading us through the home study process up to when she finalize her report on Christmas Eve. We also know that we can always ask her more questions in the future.

Now we wait... Our Paper Pregnancy has started with our profile book on file at our agency along with all the other official paperwork we now wait for a birthmother to select us as the couple to adopt her baby. Mike and I are praying for the woman who will allow us to raise her baby as our own and we are praying for the difficult decision she must make.
